Temple is the first of a
trilogy, followed by ‘Open’ and ‘The Turning Point’. After having
made a couple of electronic, processed and programmed albums I felt
the urge to simply play the guitar and start from that, adding
synthesizer if needed; the complete opposite. The idea was to start
analogue, guitar based, natural flowing, spontanious, pure and with
a minimum of editing. Like slowly moving from the seventies, where
the sounds of Temple come from, to the present time. Not only sounds
change through the three albums, also meaning and intensity. The
last one, The Turning Point, is my most dense and emotional.
Temple is the electric space
guitar album that I had in mind, that I wanted to hear, because at
that time I didn’t know such an album. It is a relatively slow album
with many electric guitar colours and experimentation. As it
progresses synthesizer and drum computer find their way in the sound
spectrum.
The overall feeling of the
Temple is as if it has been there since the dawning of Krautrock,
waiting to be found. It has a deep mysterious meaning, an
unexplained depth of feeling. There are many Temples, some made by
people, some formed by nature; maybe life itself is a temple.....
